The month of October should be interesting for music fans between the comeback of Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth, the first album from Idina Menzel, whom you probably remember as Elsa’s voice in Frozen, or Tonny Bennett and Lady Gaga’s collaboration album. Here are the top 6 new album releases you should look forward to.
1- Macy Gray – The Way
Macy Gray’s eighth studio LP The Way will be released on October 7th. The artist described this LP as a very personal one that reflects who she is as a woman, mother and an artist. A track from The Way has already been released as a teaser for LP. “Stoned” is about recovering and finding independence after being stood up by a romantic partner. A music video featuring celebrities that inspired Macy Gray has been released along with the track. Some tour dates have also been announced for the Fall of 2014.
2- Johnny Marr – Playland
Johnny Marr has finally decided to focus on his solo career after being a guitarist for The Smiths. Johnny Marr played for other bands such as the Cribs or Modest Mouse but he has finally found his voice with this new album. In Johnny Marr’s own words, Playland explores tension, boredom and anxiety and how people are affected by these things. 3- The Melvins – Hold It In
The Melvins have released a new album on October 14th. The Melvins were a trio until recently. They are now a quartet thanks to bassist JD Pinkus and guitarist Paul Leary joining the band. The Melvins are all about having fun and not taking themselves seriously.
4- Idina Menzel – Holiday Wishes
Idina Menzel is releasing a Christmas-themed album on October 14th. Idina Menzel is the voice of Elsa in the Disney’s animated hit Frozen. Holiday Wishes will include Christmas classics such as Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas or Holly Jolly Christmas. Idina Menzel revealed that the album would feature some guest stars. More information including the name of these guest stars and a complete track list should be available soon.
